Dan Fors
BLUE SHARK (Admin Coach)
Coach Dan has been coaching with WCS since 1993. He has coached at multiple levels within our age group program over the years. He currently performs all our team's administrative duties as the Administrative Head Coach along with coaching all our new/trial swimmers in BLUE SHARK each season.
Nick Parry
GREAT WHITE SHARK
Coach Nick Parry rejoins the Sharks after a few years away to help with the Great White Sharks group. He started coaching for the Sharks in 2007 working primarily with swimmers aged 13+. In 2011, Nick took over the lead role of the senior program and helped lead it to new heights. During his time as the lead senior coach, the Sharks broke numerous team records, as well as state records. As well, he lead multiple senior swimmers to Age Group and Senior State championships. Swimmers that have been part of the senior program under Coach Parry have competed at all levels including the Speedo Sectional, Futures, U.S.Summer Nationals and Olympic Trials (2021). Coach Parry also serves as the Head Coach of the West Chicago Wildcat Co-Op Girls Swim Team.
Troy Murray
GREAT WHITE SHARK
Troy has coached the last seven years with the Glenbard North/East co-op team. He was also head coach of the Carol Stream Dolphins for eight years, the head coach of the Rockford Auburn boys' and girls' high school teams for one year, and the boys' assistant at Lake Park for one year. He is excited to coach both the Sharks and the West Chicago/Batavia/Geneva co-op starting in 2019. Throughout his coaching career, he has worked with swimmers of varying abilities - from beginners to IHSA state scorers.
Karl Volkman
GREY SHARK & JUNIOR SHARK
Coach Karl joined the Sharks in the Fall of 2018. Karl has brought years of experience in competitive swimming from being an experienced swimmer, as well as a summer recreational league head coach in Glen Ellyn, and then prior years of USS head coaching experience with the Elk Grove Stingrays. He has coached many elite swimmers to the regional and state meets.
Kara Parry
LEOPARD & TIGER SHARKS
Coach Kara swam competitively all of her childhood as part of both age group swimming (Itasca Dolphins and Elk Grove Stingrays) and high school swimming (Lake Park High School). She started her coaching career the summer of 2001 as an 8 and under coach for the Itasca Dolphins. She worked with the Dophins for 10 years before she decided to move to the Sharks. Coach Kara joined the Sharks during the fall of 2009 . She has worked with many groups throughout the years with the Sharks, but enjoys teaching the basics of swimming with the younger swimmers. Coach Kara has led many of her swimmers to the regional and Age Group meets.
Dan Johnson
Head Coach Emeritus
In memory of Coach DJ who passed away December 1st, 2022, a wonderful mentor to thousands of former swimmers and many coaches. DJ was the Sharks head coach for 38 years going all the way back to 1979. Under Coach DJ's direction WCS produced 56 ISI state champions, 6 high school state champions, and over 50 high school All Americans, Coach DJ was active in ISI, having served as Senior Chair, Coaches Representative, and on the Central Zone Board of Review. Being the best swim coach never meant winning to Dan. He measured success on how he connected to each swimmer and helped them through their adolescent years. His #1 job was simply to make sure each kid loved being a swimmer.
